自5.12四川汶川地震以来，灾情牵动着全球华人的心，美东各界人士为抗震救灾捐款
募款，为赈灾出钱出力。以哥大为首的大纽约地区学界为此成立民间组织CHINA RELIEF，并定于5月31日在MANHATTAN FOLEY
SQUARE举行集会，与侨、商界一起为死者哀悼，为生者祈福，为四川灾区重建鼓劲！让我们美东学生学者、华人华侨一同喊出：四川坚强！中国加油！
我们希望通过室外的活动，吸引更多华人华侨和国际友人的参与，表达您对灾区重建的支持。同时，展示美东地区各界对灾区的爱心，在儿童节来临之际为灾区的儿童捐赠书籍，捐建抗震希望小学等，给他们送上一份特殊的礼物。
具体活动安排如下：

本活动募捐得所有款项将转交中国驻纽约总领馆，用于帮助灾区儿童尽快重返校园。
Since the earthquake stuck Wenchuan, Sichuan in China on May 12th,
people all over the world have shown their concern and sympathy to the
suffering victims of this calamity. Chinese and Americans in eastern
United States continue to raise funds to show their dedication.
Led by the CUCSSA, Chinese students and scholars have found a special
civil organization called "China Relief", and decided to host an event
on May 31 at the Manhattan Foley Square with people from different
fields to mourn for the victims and pray for the survivors, as well as
encourage and support reconstruction efforts in the affected areas. Let
all of us students, scholars, Chinese and Americans go out and say: Be
strong Sichuan! Go China!
We hope to have more people participate in this outdoor event and show
your support for reconstruction of the earthquake-shattered regions. At
the same time, we would like to show our love for the region amid the
upcoming Children's Day by presenting a special gift: donating books to
the children of the disaster zone and fundraising for new schools in
the area.
The itinerary is as follows:

All the donations will be transferred to the Consulate General of China
in New York and used for helping children go back to home in Sichuan.
